Three tenants were announced this week for the new Raleigh Iron Works mixed-use development (located at 2200 Atlantic Ave.) — and more are coming soon.

Raleigh development firm Grubb Ventures and Atlanta-based real estate company Jamestown L.P. invested $150 million into the first phase of the project, which is slated to open by the end of this year. Phase one includes the construction of a new apartment building and the repurposing of the historic Peden Steel fabricating mill into office space and 65,000+ sqft of retail space.

Who’s moving in?

The first restaurant tenant announced was Jaguar Bolera, a new “eatertainment” concept expected to open during the second half of 2023. The social hub will feature creative dishes, an inventive bar program + activities like duckpin bowling and live craft classes such as naughty needlepoint.

Three new tenants were announced this week. Durham favorites Eastcut Sandwich Bar and Ponysaurus Brewing Co., along with a new wellness concept called F(X), will open in Raleigh Iron Works in spring 2023.

A Los Angeles-based sports, music, and marketing agency called Wasserman is also relocating its Raleigh office from North Hills to occupy some of the project’s 176,000 sqft of office space. The first office move-ins are expected by the end of 2022.

What’s going up?

The Forge, designed by Cline Design, will offer upscale micro, studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments. The 219 multi-family units range from 430 to 1,200 sqft. + will have industrial design features. Some of the unique amenities include a barcade, co-working spaces, a saltwater pool, and an outdoor upper-level courtyard. Residential move-ins are expected to begin in early 2023.

Developers are considering building a pedestrian bridge that would connect Raleigh Iron Works to Dock 1053 on the other side of Atlantic Avenue. The concept is being designed and discussed + plans have not yet been submitted to the city.

Phase two specifics are still in the works, including timing and uses. Features may include an additional 350,000+ sqft of office space, more multi-family residences, and a hotel.
