Upgrade your self-care routine by adding a CBD product

Hey Raleigh – Rachel here. Like many of us, I’m spending more time at home and have used the past few months to improve my self-care routine. After a trying year (planning a wedding during a pandemic can be pretty stressful), I wanted to see if CBD could help with my stress and anxiety.

Enter: Raleigh-based CBD company Naternal. Their product line + dosing system allows each customer to fully personalize their CBD experience. As a CBD novice, I decided to try a few different products to see which worked best for me.

Here’s what I tried + how you can #TryThis.

Experience:

Incorporating different Naternal CBD products into my self-care routine

What we tried (with pricing):

Week 1: 20mg of the Full Spectrum 1200mg oil (good for beginners; 30-day supply $40)

As a first-time user, Naternal’s “Trust the Dose System’’ was super helpful. It uses 20 mg as a foundation amount – which is generally the best starting point for beginners. I started my first week using a 0.5 mL or 20 mg dose of the Full Spectrum 1200 mg oil.

Naternal’s Full Spectrum products are often described as being “most like the plant in its natural form,” containing a wide range of cannabinoids + terpenes extracted from the hemp plant. These compounds have been shown to enhance the overall effects of CBD for a more potent formula that provides a wider range of benefits than CBD alone.

During my first week, I took the oil sublingually (read: CBD drops placed under the tongue for faster absorption) mid-day after lunch. My first thought when I dropped it under my tongue (the best way to take it) was that it tasted very earthy.

Pro-tip: If you’re like me and don’t exactly love the taste of the oil, you can add it to your coffee, tea or morning smoothie. While I didn’t see a major difference in my mood, I did feel more at ease as I finished out my workday.

Week 2: 40mg of the Full Spectrum 1200mg oil + Ease CBD Gummies

During the second week, I decided to increase the dosage to 1 mL or 40 mg of CBD oil. This switch was fairly simple. Each dropper is marked to display each serving size.

After increasing the dosage, I did feel a difference in my mood. I found that the panicky feeling of having 20 things remaining on my to-do list at 2 p.m. disappeared. I felt mentally more aware and like the world wouldn’t end if I didn’t complete all of my tasks that day.

This week I also decided to try Naternal’s Ease CBD Gummies ($30 for a 30-day supply).

Each raspberry-flavored gummy is 10mg of CBD. I didn’t take the oil and gummies at the same time. Instead, I took 2 gummies in the mid-afternoon, and they tasted much better than the oil.

Pro-tip: Eat a gummy following a snack or meal. I felt slightly drowsy on Friday after not having anything in my stomach.

Week 3: 20 mg of the Rest CBD + CBN oil (good for restless sleepers; 30-day supply $45)

We all dream of a full night of uninterrupted sleep. Whether it’s trying to fall asleep by yourself while your partner is out of town or when you have a cat who gets you up at 4 a.m., a good night’s sleep is hard to come by.

I’ve tried a lot of different sleep solutions (eye masks, aromatherapy, etc.). It only made sense to try Naternal’s Rest CBD + CBN oilfeaturing a calming vanilla + lavender flavor to help with sleep.

Research shows CBD can help with different kinds of sleep issues, including insomnia and sleep apnea

I eased into this type of oil just like I did with the original CBD oil by taking 20 mg about 30 minutes before my bedtime. I typically try to read before bed, but lately, I’ve found myself doomscrolling on my phone. So, I reset my bedtime routine by taking the oil and cracking open a new book. Hello, restful nights of sleep. 😴

Don’t miss:

If you’re a CBD novice like me, it can be overwhelming to know where to start. Naternal created this quiz to help customers find the product that best suits their needs. I recommend incorporating a few different products into your routine – by bundling products, you’ll save 20% on best-sellers. Bonus: They also make a great gift if you need a last-minute present. 🎁

What we’re still talking about:

Naternal’s topical products. CBD is something you can take orally and apply topically. Naternal’s CBD Muscle Cream combines CBD with menthol, camphor, eucalyptus + arnica. During WFH I’ve been working at my dining room table in a not-so-comfortable chair – which has aggravated old back injuries. The muscle cream soothed my lower-back pain without leaving a greasy residue.
