Tailgates, pigskins, and rivalries as old as time are back in Raleigh. The Triangle football season kicks off Thursday, Aug. 28, with the Wolfpack facing ECU at Carter-Finley — here’s all you need to know about NC State’s 2025 football season.

Remember CJ Bailey? He’s back as QB1 for the 2025 season, and last year, he threw the most yards in one game against Syracuse as a true freshman since Philip Rivers in 2000. Hopes are high for Bailey, as well as tight end Justin Joly + wide receivers Noah Rogers and Teddy Hoffmann. The last Pirates and Pack meet-up ended in a brawl at the 2024 Military Bowl, so we might see some increased tension on the field.

Aside from the typical ACC games, don’t miss the first-ever match-up between NC State and Campbell. Despite being a stone’s throw away in Buies Creek, the Fighting Camels and Wolfpack have never played each other in football. Campbell’s team hasn’t excelled these last few seasons, but this should be a very fun local game for Parents and Families week.

Allie, here — as usual, I’m excited to see the Pack take on UNC, and there are still seats available for the Saturday, Nov. 29 game. Between you and me? I don’t think Bill Belichick has a shot in Carter-Finley.

Speaking of Carter-Finley, there are some new updates in the stadium. In addition to Chick-fil-A’s return, expect upgrades to the Raleighwood area, like extra shade, beer, and concessions. Plus, three new team stores make it easier than ever to back the Pack.

Although NC State Athletics haven’t accepted any bids for a new stadium sponsor, the main video scoreboard is now the Andy Albright Scoreboard. Back in November, Athletics announced a partnership with Independent Sports and Entertainment to acquire a naming rights partner with the blessings of the Carter and Finley families.
