NowOpen: Raleigh’s first cat cafe

Purr Cup Cafe — Raleigh’s first cat cafe and lounge — opens today, October 1. Located at 210 Prospect Avenue, the new establishment allows visitors to spend time with free-roaming felines currently available for adoption from local rescue group SAFE Haven for Cats. 🐈

  • To see which cats are up for adoption, check out this list of bbs ready to find their fur-ever home.
  • You can book the lounge on a private party basis — the fee is currently “pay what you can,” but $60 is the recommended hourly rate. Group size is limited to six or fewer. Proceeds benefit the rescue.
  • The menu is 100% vegan + features options for coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and kombucha. The food is pre-packaged and locally made. Bonus: they’ll soon be offering beer + wine.  
  • Some of the COVID-19 precautions currently in place at the cafe include: mandatory masks, outdoor seating (front porch or back patio), and booking the cat room on a private basis.
