A slate of local eateries have been named to the Michelin Guide after its first visit to the American South, and while the 919 didn’t earn any illustrious stars this time, here are our picks at these local Michelin-recognized gems.

Bib Gourmand

Mala Pata | When you visit this new spot in Gateway Plaza, try the Colombian buñuelos, lechoncito tacos, and the pescado a la talla.

Sam Jones BBQ | We love the Skylight Inn-inspired pork, cornbread, and smoked wings.
Brodeto | Don’t miss the sardine toast, coal-roasted scallops, ravioli, and of course, a slice of olive oil cake for dessert.

St. Roch | Come for the happy hour oysters, stay for the gator bolognese, barbecue shrimp, and bananas foster French toast.

Tamasha | Highlights of this stunning modern Indian spot include the okra chaat, the yellow tail snapper coastal curry, and TFC (Tamasha fried chicken).

Good morning, friends, it’s your RALtoday team here, feeling the local love after a fun-filled afternoon at Coastal Credit Union’s recent Community Appreciation Day.

Taking place at various branches throughout the year, these free, community-centered events welcome members, future members, and local partners to connect, learn, and celebrate together.

➡️ What we tried

Our team headed to the Holly Springs location for the Friday festivities. When we arrived, the beautiful branch had been set up like a fair, with booths, trucks, decor, and more.

There was so much to do, and we joined fellow locals enjoying:

Our free bags even included a voucher that we traded in at the fresh produce truck for some tasty treats.

🎈 How you can try this

Want to join the celebration? There are two more Triangle-area Community Appreciation Days happening this month — and more being announced all the time.

North Carolina FC owner Steve Malik announced the men’s soccer team has submitted an application to join the United Soccer League’s new Division One league, and as a result, the club will not field a 2026 team.

What’s USL Division One?

NCFC is a member of the USL Championship, currently the highest league in the United Soccer League. The USL announced USL Division One earlier this year as the new premier league with a promotion and relegation system, and its inaugural season is set for 2028. NCFC is one of many soccer clubs vying for a spot in the new division.

What’s next for NCFC?

“Right now, it’s essential that we focus our immediate resources and energy on strengthening the foundation for professional soccer in Raleigh by continuing to invest in the Courage and resetting our men’s strategy for the future,” Malik said in a press release. “With the right infrastructure in place, Raleigh can become a world-class home for the sport for years to come.”
Will Raleigh get a Division One team?
