Sports

As the Women’s NCAA Tournament tips off, the NC State women’s basketball team is currently ranked at No. 9 in the conference. Whether you’re watching live from Reynolds Coliseum or at a local spot, stay up to date as the action unfolds.

Traffic

A study conducted by the NC Turnpike Authority is evaluating toll options for the Capital Boulevard Improvement Project, aiming to ease traffic between I-540 and Wake Forest. Set to begin in 2027, the project is expected to take six years and will replace stoplights with interchanges, aiming to address flow of traffic. (WRAL)

Civic

Raleigh’s Mayor Janet Cowell will present the inaugural address on Wednesday, March 26 at 6 p.m. at CAM Raleigh. The address will outline city council’s first 100 days, focusing on housing and public safety. Attend the event in person or watch via video link on the city’s homepage.

Raleigh is set to host its free Legal Lift for Small Businesses event on Monday, April 21 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Raleigh Convention Center. Wake County will implement a two-year property revaluation cycle starting in 2027 to reduce homeowners’ tax “sticker shock” and better capture new construction. The move aims to ensure fairer property assessments and curb significant tax rate hikes. Wake will be the first NC county to adopt this approach. (The News & Observer)

Calling all dinosaur lovers. The NC Museum of Natural Sciences recently debuted a new dinosaur license plate. The design features the skeleton of the rare dinosaur Acrocanthosaurus, one of the museum’s signature dinosaurs.

Acrocanthosaurus, also referred to as Acro, lived 110 million years ago and is called the “Terror of The South” for preying on other larger dinosaurs.

Get in on the dino action and pre-order a standard plate for $30, with $20 directly benefiting the museum’s programs like the Journey to Space Exhibition. You can also personalize the plate with letters and numders for $60.
