NC voters have been busy. Nearly 3.2 million voters had cast their ballots by noon on Tuesday in NC, representing a 40.7% turnout of registered voters. So far, in-person early voting has totaled over 3 million, reflecting an 11.9% increase compared to the 2020 election. Early voting ends at 3 p.m. this Saturday, Nov. 2.

The Carolina Hurricanes Foundation donated $50,000 to the Asheville Hockey League to help rebuild its outdoor rink, which was destroyed by Hurricane Helene. The Canes will donate an additional $25,000 when public donations reach $25,000. This marks the first support from the foundation’s Raise Up $1 Million raffle program for WNC relief.
Cause
During Smithfield Foods Hunger Relief Day at the NC State Fair, attendees donated food to support Hurricane Helene relief, resulting in 18 truckloads of supplies for WNC communities. The event generated over 280,000 meals, including 175,000 meals from fairgoers and 500,000 servings of protein from Smithfield Foods.

Honeygirl Meadery is moving into a new 3,000 sqft facility at Durham’s American Tobacco Campus. Founded in 2014, the meadery will feature a tasting room, two bars, and an outdoor patio. The grand opening on Saturday, Nov. 16 will include samples and special dishes from James Beard Award-winning chef Ricky Moore from Saltbox. (The News & Observer)
