Grab a pair of brightly colored mismatched socks to celebrate and raise awareness for World Down Syndrome Day with 321 Coffee from Saturday, March 23 through Sunday, March 24.

World Down Syndrome Day falls on March 21 every year. People with Down syndrome have three — one more than typical — copies of chromosome 21, this is why “321" represents Down syndrome.

The cafe, which currently employs over 50 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), is celebrating this global awareness day at both its downtown Raleigh and Durham locations.

Did you know 80% of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities are unemployed? Founded in 2017 by NC State alum Lindsay Wrege and Michael Evans, this coffee roaster and cafe embraces diversity and is intentional in creating an inclusive business model.

Show your support for our local 321 baristas who work hard to roast delicious coffee, take orders with a smile, and craft lattes. Both days of events will include barista panels, crazy sock contests, temporary tattoos, drink specials, and more... all for a good cause.

Our online shop Six & Main is getting in on the good fun, too. 321 Coffee products, like the collaborative NC State blend Greater Good and its newest specialty 3.21 Day roast, recently launched on our small business marketplace. Even better news? There are four prep options ranging from whole bean to ground beans, perfect for drip coffee.

Don’t miss out on this celebration of individuality with 321 Coffee... we promise, the baristas will leave you smiling from ear-to-ear.

From the editor
The other day, I grabbed a fun bunny cookie from Yellow Dog Bread Co. — yup, just one big cookie — and walked around the Historic Oakwood Neighborhood on my lunch. It was the perfect kick off to the spring season, I especially loved seeing the cherry blossoms in bloom at the Oakwood Cemetery entrance.
