With winter well behind us, it’s time to say out with the old. Spring is the season of rebirth, so why not give new life to like-new or gently used items? In the spirit of spring cleaning, we’ve rounded up 25 Raleigh organizations that accept donation items, help locals in need, and support community causes.

Clothing

  • Raleigh Rescue Mission relies on donations of linens and gently used items to provide clothing and a place to stay for individuals experiencing housing insecurities.
  • The Women’s Center provides clothes and hygiene items to at-risk and homeless women.
  • Healing Transitions provides clothes and staple goods to individuals who enroll in its recovery program.
  • Donate new or gently used children’s clothes and shoes to Note in the Pocket. You can even volunteer at the organization’s Raleigh location.
  • Donate professional outfits to Dress for Success so this org can properly distribute clothing to women who are searching for careers.

Hip-hop and R&B music festival Dreamville is returning to Raleigh’s Dix Park with some of music’s biggest stars and hot up-and-coming artists. Here’s who not to miss and how to snag a coveted ticket before the festival starts April 6-7.

On Saturday, April 6, Grammy award-winning performer SZA and 50 Cent will perform — you might know SZA from her viral hit “Kill Bill” off of her new album “SOS.”

The next day, festival organizer and Fayetteville native J. Cole will headline along with rapper Nicki Minaj who announced her Dreamville performance back in December as part of her “Pink Friday 2" world tour.

Tickets for the festival start at $300 and include access to all these artists + more, plus exclusive photo and merch opportunities, and bragging rights for attending one of 2024’s coolest events.

From the editor
As a movie buff, I am so excited to watch the Oscars this weekend — I’m proud to say I saw all but one of the best picture nominees in theaters, mainly at independent theaters around the Triangle. What’s your pick for best movie of 2023? This year was a huge year for great movies, but “Oppenheimer” really blew me away.
