Burnt ends are flavorful pieces of meat typically cut from smoked brisket, and we found six spots around Raleigh that serve these melt-in-your mouth crispy bites.
Note: Since burnt ends are difficult to make and are a hot commodity, restaurants typically have a set schedule for when you can order these flavorful pieces, so make sure to plan ahead.
Now, grab your wet wipes and let’s dig in.

Spot reimagined pet architecture at Triangle Barkitecture

Over 20 teams made up of local architects, engineers, and designers from around the Triangle have been working on custom pet architecture builds to showcase during this year’s Triangle Barkitecture competition. All proceeds from this unique fundraising event led by the American Institute of Architects will benefit local animal rescue centers.
This Saturday, Sept. 30, the public and their pets are invited to view and try out the innovative designs for free at Fenton from 1 to 5 p.m. All of the creations will be auctioned off with 100% of the proceeds going to local pets in need at Triangle Beagle Rescue and Friends of Wake County Animal Center.
You’ll also get the chance to meet adoptable + adorable pets, enjoy a show by Dare Devil Dogs, and there will be pup caricature drawings available.
There are six competition categories, including Best in Show, People’s Choice (don’t forget to vote for your favorite build) + Craziest Cat, awarded to the most unique design that challenges the idea of what pet architecture can be.
My fiancé’s family is from Kansas City — hence why we root for the Chiefs, heyKCtoday — and he is always on the hunt for burnt ends. Right now, our favorite spot is The BBQ Lab. We can’t get enough of the deviled egg potato salad, crispy hush puppies, and burnt ends when we can get them. We particularly love getting to eat on the restaurant’s small North Hills patio.
