Last week, Grubb VenturesannouncedSalvage Yard â a ~10-acre mixed-use development comprised of threerenovated warehouses across the street from Raleigh Iron Works. Work on the project between Atlantic Avenue and Laurelbrook Street is expected to begin by the end of the year.
Triangle Rock Club, the first revealed tenant, is planning to open a climbing gym in the former location of Big Boss Brewing in 2024. This will be TRCâs second Raleigh location and fifth gym in the Triangle area.
The new TRC-Salvage Yard located at 1249 Wicker Dr. will occupy ~40,000 sqft, making it 18% larger than its Durham location. The world-class facility will utilize the existing 27-ft building + buildan 8,000-sqft addition with a 50-ft ceiling.

There will be 100+ climbing lanes, a large bouldering area, two yoga studios, and additional fitness space. The space is designed to be social, with ample outdoor seating, views of an outdoor beer garden + places to eat and drink within walking distance of the complex.
Big Boss Brewing â Raleighâs oldest brewery â moved out of its Wicker Drive taproom and production space in late August. Its new taproom is expected to open in 2023. The location has not yet been announced.

Take fundraising to new heights during Special Olympics NCâsOver the Edge challenge on Sat., Oct. 1. Between 9 a.m.-5 p.m., participants will rappel 30 stories down the side of the Wells Fargo skyscraper at 150 Fayetteville St. to raise awareness for ~40,000 NC athletes with intellectual disabilities. As of Tuesday morning, the event has already raised more than $57,500. And itâs not too late to join.
How to participate
Register as an individual, join a team, or create a team.
Raise at least $1,000 (per person) by Sat., Oct. 1.
Schedule your rappel once youâve reached the fundraising minimum.
Hold on tight + take in the Raleigh views from 400 feet up.
Bonus: Participants will earn a commemorative T-shirt.
