Labor Day weekend is here + we’ve compiled a list of events to help you celebrate the last big summer weekend in style. From a barbecue festival to carnival games — this summer is going out with a bang. ☀️
Friday

  • Dine Out @ First Friday | Fri., Sept. 3 | 7-10 p.m. | City Market | Free+ | Downtown Raleigh Alliance is combining First Friday with Dine Out Downtown — enjoy food, music, and art all in one night. 🎨

Saturday

  • Touch-a-Truck | Sat., Sept. 4 | 11 a.m.–2 p.m. | Sanderford Road Community Center, 2623 Sanderford Rd. | Free | Explore fire trucks in this hands-on experience with different vehicles and equipment. 🚒
  • Bull City BBQ Bash | Sat., Sept. 4 | 12–5 p.m. | Mike D’s BBQ Supply & General Store, 306 S. Driver St., Durham | Free | Enjoy this festival with live music, shopping, kid activities, and a barbecue cooking competition. 🍽
  • Wings Over Springs | Sat., Sept. 4 | 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. | Jefferson L. Sugg Farm at Bass Lake Park, 2401 Grigsby Ave., Holly Springs | Free | Spectators can watch radio control model airplane flying + drone races at this annual charity event. ✈️

Sunday

  • Kelley & the Cowboys | Sun., Sept. 5 | 4 p.m. | Koka Booth Amphitheatre | $4+ | This 4-piece band has a signature style influenced by early forms of western swing, rockabilly, country, and blues. 🎶
