Holocaust memorials in NC

#TodayIs International Holocaust Remembrance Day — which was established by the UN General Assembly in 2006 to commemorate the liberation of the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz + honor the six million Jewish victims of World War II.

On April 8 (Yom Hashoah on the Hebrew calendar), the Justice Theatre Project will present a new, locally-produced and directed film called Wo Ahin soll Ich Geh’n? (“Where Can I Go?”)

The film is presented in partnership with Jewish Family Services of Raleigh and Cary and chronicles the story of Wake County holocaust survivors.

  • April 7 at 7:30 p.m. — virtual speaker series featuring co-directors Barbara Kaynan and Jessie Bonnell
  • April 8 at 7 p.m. — “Where Can I Go?” watch party (tickets coming soon)
  • April 13 at 7:30 p.m. — Facebook Live panel discussion with the Justice Theatre Project + RDU on Stage
  • April 18 at 1 p.m. — “Where Can I Go” matinee screening (tickets coming soon)

In further recognition of NC’s Holocaust survivors, Greensboro’s Women’s Holocaust Memorial — a sculpture designed by NC artist Victoria Milstein — will be unveiled later this year + is the first public monument of its type in our state.
