Six local businesses will join North Hills Innovation District in 350 to 900 sqft micro-retail spaces.

Kane Realty Corporation’s North Hills Innovation District is welcoming seven new micro-retail concepts to its 33-acre development in midtown.

These artisanal storefronts will feature a wide variety of retail + service opportunities in a smaller footprint in Makers Alley, a hub for hyperlocal biz, and Tower 5, one of two high-rise office buildings.

With micro-retail businesses slated to begin opening this spring, these storefronts will range from 350- to 900-sqft and promise to be a unique shopping experience for Raleighites.

“In celebrating diversity and creativity, we believe that these locally-owned businesses, led by talented women and minorities, will not only enrich NHID but also contribute to the unique and inclusive community we aim to foster,” said Stacey Buescher, Managing Director of Operations for Kane Realty Corporation.

Once complete, the NHID will have two high-rise office towers, four residential buildings, 60,000 sqft of retail space, and two standalone food + bev concepts, including Standard Beer + Food and The Pumphouse.

Tower 5 will feature ground-level retail and total 18 stories.

NHID already includes two of four planned residential communities. Vine North Hills Apartments + Channel House are open as of 2020 and 2023, respectively, and are accepting new tenants. Construction on St. Albans Lofts is underway with 396 apartment units planned across two buildings. Next on the docket is Tributary, a six-story luxury apartment complex, which will begin construction in mid 2024 as part of Phase 3 — as of right now, Phase 4 is in the planning stages.

Tower 5, which will span 18 stories, will offer 322,000 sqft of office space + integrated parking — a second tower is anticipated, but plans have not been outlined yet.

Nearly all the pieces are in place for this new “urban oasis,” according to Kane Realty.
