One of the Southeast’s oldest shopping centers + Raleigh’s first mixed-use development is now allowing guests to drink while they shop at 21 retailers. Here’s what you need to know before you Sip n’ Shop at Village District.

How it works

Guests 21 and older can purchase alcoholic bevs from eight approved spots, and drinks will be served in a 16 oz cup with a special Sip n’ Shop sticker. Beverages are only permitted in the far west and middle blocks of the Village District — home to spots like Cape Fear Seafood Company and Shake Shack, respectively. The blocks, including Fresh Market, Village Deli, Chick-fil-A, and shops on Oberlin Road, are not included in Sip n’ Shop.

Here’s where you can get a drink from:

  • Ajisai
  • Cantina 18
  • Cape Fear Seafood Company
  • Flying Biscuit
  • Piccola Italia
  • Postino
  • Shake Shack
  • Winestore

Once you’ve got your drink in hand, you can shop at any of the 21 businesses, including Sephora, Great Outdoor Provision Co, and Uniquities from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. If that sounds like a lot to remember, don’t worry. Businesses are clearly marked with their Sip n’ Shop policies, and more info is available on Village District’s website.

Some Village District residents are concerned about noise and disruption because of the new program, and the shopping center says they have implemented measures to keep guests + neighbors in a safe and controlled environment. Reach out to Village District with any concerns.

Later this year, Village District is anticipating another addition to Sip n’ Shop — its first cocktail bar, Mr. Henry, in the former Which Wich space near Ajisai and Goodnights. From the folks behind now-closed C. Grace, expect high-quality cocktails + a luxe seating area — and great drinks to grab for shopping around the district.
