City Editor Cat here. I recently moved from downtown to near the NCMA — I have been getting familiar with my new marketplaces, including Lake Boone Shopping Center.
A hidden gem near UNC REX Hospital, this complex is outfitted with local businesses like Randy’s Pizza and Chubby’s Tacos — yum, I frequent both — but will soon include a new row of both local and national eateries to its retail lineup.
Popular fast-casual chain Chicken Salad Chick will be the first to welcome guests with its grand opening set for next Tuesday, Nov. 14.
Other additions include two NC-based eateries, The Butcher’s Market — opening Dec. 1 — and Duck Donuts.
Additionally, the McDonald’s was recently demolished to be rebuilt, and the Chick-Fil-A is currently closed for renovations.
Two more places I have grown to love in this shopping center are Unleashed for my pup Tucker’s treats + food, and family owned restaurant Sushi-Thai for dishes like General Tso’s Chicken and creative sushi rolls + burritos.
