Looking for a weekday night out with your bestie, other half, or the whole fam? Park West Village’s free Live in The District music series is the place to be, and it’s happening every Thursday night from 6:30-9 p.m., now until May 25. We recently checked out the evening of activities for ourselves — read on to see how it went.
What we tried:
City Editor Cat here. I had a blast attending the first Live in The District concert of the season. I spent the night dancing, enjoying free goodies (think: cotton candy), and listening to Carolina beach music at Park West Village’s outdoor venue, located ~20 minutes from downtown.
Once The Embers came on to perform, it didn’t take folks long to get up and start groovin’ to the music (including me).
Not in the mood to cut a rug? Bring a blanket or chair to get comfy on the lawn. Plus, activities like corn hole, free face painting for the kiddos, and complimentary popcorn from B&B Theaters means there’s something for everyone.
Take a break from dancing to play games in the lawn.

What not to miss:
Show up hungry — every week features new food trucks + craft beer vendors. Carolina Brewery and Vicious Fishes Brewery had the drinks flowing, while Cousins Maine Lobster and The Dogfather were providing good eats.
All of the vendors, including Ruckus Pizza spinning fresh cotton candy, were smiling ear-to-ear.
What we’re still talking about:
The crowd was amazing, I didn’t see one unhappy face. This was genuinely such a wholesome + fun event to attend, I can’t wait for the next one. Plus, I — and now you — know to get there early to claim a good spot on the lawn.
