Cary’s gone number one. The Nest, a central part of Downtown Cary Park and a signature park + play experience, was named the No. 1 Best Public Playground by USA Today. USA Today highlighted various aspects of the park, including the 20-foot climbing cardinals, splash pad, communication board, and multiple play spaces created with various accommodations + ages in mind.

Since the park’s 2024 opening, it’s hit the ground running, only stopping to garner accolades, including:

  • 2024 Voters’ Choice Award — Best Park, WRAL
  • 2024 GOLD Award, National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP)
  • 2024 GRAND Award, Landscape Contractors Association (LCA)
  • 2024 Space Award, Triangle Business Journal — Top Municipal Project

But this park isn’t just for the kiddos. Next time you visit, check out some of the amenities like the Barkyard, the Bark Bar equipped with grab-and-go snacks + beer and wine, the multi-use Academy Pavilion & Plaza, and much more. If you’re in the market for more than amenities, check out the calendar for upcoming events like the farmers market on Saturday, April 18 or the Bonsai workshop on Wednesday, April 23.
