Lace up your shoes, Raleigh, and get ready to run, jog, or walk for a cause this spring. We’ve rounded up six upcoming races to compete in or volunteer at in the City of Oaks.

Raleigh Run for Rare MPS | Saturday, March 25 | 8:30 a.m. | Lake Crabtree County Park, 1400 Aviation Pkwy., Morrisville | $30-$140 | The National MPS Society is hosting a 5K and one-mile walk to bring awareness to mucopolysaccharidoses and mucolipidosis. After the race, enjoy a picnic and an awards ceremony.
The Umstead 100-Mile Endurance Run | Saturday, April 1-Sunday, April 2 | 6 a.m. | William B. Umstead State Park, 8801 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh | $180 | Run or watch athletes compete in this ultra tough race — there is also a 50-mile option.
2023 Walk/Run/Bike for Umstead | Saturday, April 22 | 8 a.m. | 6000 Reedy Creek Rd., Raleigh | $20-$45 | Funds raised from this four-mile walk/run or four, seven, or 12-mile bike tour support William B. Umstead State Park. There will be activities for kids and food trucks, plus participants will be serenaded along the route by musicians.
Socks & Undie 5K Rundie | Saturday, April 22 | 9 a.m. | 4730 Hargrove Rd., Raleigh | $15-$40 | This 10th-annual race benefits Note in the Pocket , an organization that provides clothing to impoverished and homeless children and families. Runners are encouraged to wear crazy socks and funny (appropriate) boxers.
Komen Triangle Race for the Cure | Saturday, May 6 | 8:30 a.m. | Boxyard RTP, 800 Park Offices Dr., Durham | $35-$55 | Participate in a one or three-mile run or walk to help fundraise for efforts to end breast cancer.
Catching Fireflies 5K | Friday, May 19 | 8:25 p.m. | 2200 Wakefield Pines Dr., Raleigh | $25-$60 | This 10th-annual night race is lined with luminaries — race goers can purchase a luminary to honor a friend or family member who has battled cancer. All profits from luminary sales will benefit the Cancer Shucks Foundation .
