Kick off the Women’s World Cup at these events

The USWNT is starting their bout in the FIFA Women’s World Cup this week — cheer them on in their first game at these local events.

On Friday, July 21, the USWNT will begin their journey at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in New Zealand in a match against Vietnam. Here are a couple spots with free events to celebrate and cheer on local NC Courage players and the USWNT.

Soccer Fan Fest | 6 p.m. | Moore Square, 201 S. Blount St., Raleigh | Grab your spot on the lawn at this celebration hosted by the City of Raleigh and Pop-up Carolinas and hangout with games, activities, food, and local vendors before the match starts at 9 p.m.

Official NC Courage Watch Parties | 7:30 p.m. | Carolina Ale House, 7981 Skyland Ridge Pkwy., Raleigh | Kick off the excitement at the official NC Courage watch party. Play bingo, win prizes for every US goal, score raffle prizes at halftime, and meet NC Courage mascot Roary.

USA vs. Vietnam Women’s Soccer Watch Party | 9 p.m. | Sports and Social, 301 Fenton Gateway Dr., Cary | Join Sports and Social — and their 65 TVs — to participate in games, giveaways, and try the specialty “Hat Trick” cocktail.

World Cup: USWNT Match 1 | 9 p.m. | Tap Yard, 1610 Automotive Way, Raleigh | This event will have food trucks, beverages flowing, and the match on the big screen.
