Traveling anywhere right now comes with its risks – and we understand that many of our readers are opting out of it entirely. But for those looking for a way to satisfy their wanderlust in a low-risk way, a road trip can be the perfect fix.

Columbia, SC is right up the road (just a ~3 1/2 hour drive from Raleigh), and has a ton in the way of low-key fun + socially-distant activities for a weekend away without all the worry. Plus, the Capital City is big on Mother Nature – and, luckily, exploring the outdoors is one of the safest ways to get out + about during the pandemic.

Here are a few of Columbia’s best outdoor offerings:

○ The Cayce Riverwalk Park has trails galore for a walk or bike ride with views of both the Congaree River + the Soda City skyline – and it’s just a skip away from the heart of downtown Cola.

○ Head to Congaree National Park for a secluded stroll in South Carolina’s one + only National Park.

○ For a bite to eat, pick from a bounty of outdoor-adjacent spots. We suggest hitting one of these heated rooftops or patios for cocktails and snacks, followed by a stroll along scenic Main Street.
