We don’t have any NC olympians in the running this year but... we may have some world-class cricketers coming to town. 🏏

Morrisville’s Church Street Park is ready to put the town on the map with major league improvements. A multi-million-dollar deal was sealed in a public-private partnership between Major League Cricket + the Town of Morrisville. They have plans to expand their scenic Church Street Park and hope to become a host venue for the 2024 T20 Men’s World Cup. This event is expected to be viewed by 500+ million people worldwide and would attract a huge crowd of spectators, driving tourism dollars to the area.

There are necessary upgrades for the park to turn into an international-quality cricket venue — the addition of more than 2,000 seats (expanding the capacity to ~3,500), installation of a state-of-the-art broadcast infrastructure, LED-illuminated natural and artificial turf practice pitches, new nets + additional parking. The renovations are anticipated to be finished by Spring 2023.

Bonus: The improved facilities will not be exclusive to world-class cricket players. They will also be available for community use + will continue to serve as the home base of the Morrisville Cardinals and the Triangle Cricket League (totalling ~2,500 players and 150 teams).
