🏀 Let’s go dancing

The brackets are set, and the Triangle is going dancing. Here’s when to watch our local teams in the men’s and women’s NCAA championship tournaments during March Madness.
NC State
No. 7 NC State women will play the No. 10 Tennessee on Friday, March 20 at 8 p.m. The Pack met the Lady Vols in November in Greensboro and won 80-77 — let’s keep it going.
The No. 11 Wolfpack men fell 68-66 in the First Four to No. 11 Texas, cutting their postseason very short. We’ve got high hopes for next year — and so does new head coach Will Wade.
Duke
After winning the ACC tournament without two key players, the No. 1 Blue Devils men are the ones to watch this season. The road starts against No. 16 Siena on Thursday, March 19 at 2:50 p.m. in Greenville, South Carolina — perfect for a road trip.
No. 3 Duke women are also the reigning ACC champs, and they’ll play against No. 14 Charleston at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Friday, March 20 at 11:30 a.m.
UNC
The No. 4 UNC women will play the No. 13 Western Illinois Leathernecks in Chapel Hill on Friday, March 20 at 5:30 p.m.
The No. 6 UNC men will also play their first game in Greenville, South Carolina on Thursday, March 19 against No. 11 VCU — it’ll be a while before the Tar Heels and Blue Devils could meet in the tournament, but anything’s possible in March.

The City of Raleigh Museum’s next Lunchbox Lecture will feature acclaimed local chef Cheetie Kumar for a Q+A. Expect to learn about her career, food advocacy work, and upcoming projects like Big Cat on Thursday, March 26. Psst.... There’s a pop-up at Big Cat this Saturday.
Civic
What’s up with water bills? WRAL breaks down why the city paused — and now resumed — late fees and disconnections for five months.
Eat
Local blog Raleigh Downtown put it best — the New Bern Avenue Cookout is going through an identity crisis. Originally marked as Roo’s Chicken, a new fast food concept from the Carolinas favorite, it now has signage for Taco Roos, a Tex-Mex spinoff — and it still hasn’t opened.
Closed
According to Reddit users, Jaguar Bolera in Raleigh Iron Works has permanently closed after it opened in May 2024. As Raleigh’s first “eatertainment” destination, it featured chef-quality bites, pour-your-own cocktails and activities like duckpin bowling.
Have you heard of the labyrinthine Carter Building? This commercial office building on Glenwood swallowed an 1800s house, resulting in a confusing — but unique — maze inside that local artists have filled with local art and oddities.
A pair of arch support socks that are engineered with biofeedback technology to improve foot alignment and stability. The Buy Editor Emily loves wearing them for runs and on days she’s on her feet a lot — thanks, hyperactive puppies.
I wish the Wolfpack men had a better spot in the tournament, but I am excited that they’ll be spending time in my hometown of Dayton, Ohio. For UNC and Duke, make sure to check out GVLtoday’s coverage.
