Construction is set to ramp up in 2026 for Raleigh, and we’ve got the latest scoop. Here’s what you need to know about some of the hottest mixed-use developments in the 919.
Downtown South, downtown | This development recently resumed its plans after being stuck in a holding pattern, and it could seriously change downtown + the area near Dix Park.
Raleigh Convention Center + Red Hat Amphitheater, downtown | After voting to move Red Hat and keep it downtown, plans are in motion for a new, permanent amphitheater and an expanded convention center space. Red Hat is moving one block over, and a new convention center space will take its place.

Traffic
Your trips on Capital Boulevard will continue to be free as lawmakers opposed adding a toll to pay for construction on a new freeway between Wake Forest and Raleigh. NCDOT plans to turn 10 miles of Capital into a six-lane expressway, but construction won’t begin until 2031 at the earliest. (The News & Observer)

Next Saturday, March 7 is animal adoption day at the City of Raleigh Museum from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Meet furry friends from a variety of local adoption agencies and learn a little bit about the City of Oaks while you’re at it.
