Today is Groundhog Day, and while the majority of the country turns to Pennsylvania’s Punxsutawney Phil, the Triangle has Snerd, Garner’s own weather-predicting groundhog. Out of 11 predictions, Snerd has prognosticated only five early springs, and we can’t wait for this year’s prediction.
From 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., meet at Garner Recreation Center — only 15 minutes outside of downtown Raleigh — for a Groundhog Day Celebration. Snerd will make his prediction at 12 p.m. sharp, but show up early to see live animals, meet Chase from “Paw Patrol,” and visit educational booths.

Watch
Do not try this at home. Storied rock climber Alex Honnold recently climbed the tallest skyscraper in Taiwan without ropes or a harness, and Netflix livestreamed the event. If he ever came to the City of Oaks, we wonder which of our most iconic landmarks he would scale.
Sports
Super Bowl LX is locked in — the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots will meet Sunday, Feb. 8 at Levi’s Stadium in the San Francisco Bay Area. Consider this your cue to text the group chat and pick a Raleigh sports bar for game day. (USA Today)
Travel
It can be tough to find time to work out. Good news — a new study suggests that a couple of 30-45 minute sessions per week could be enough to make “very good gains.” If you’ve got the time, see which of Raleigh’s gyms would suit your schedule. (NPR)
Eat
We’re in the depths of winter — that might explain why people are so interested in soup at the moment. A cozy sweater and a warm bowl at one of the 919’s super soup spots sounds great right now.
Jobs
Whether you’re a small business looking to grow your team or a large company filling a key role, our Job Board can connect you with engaged, qualified locals who are ready to work. Post your open roles + watch the applications roll in.
