Korean fried rice. Nashville hot tofu. Fish and chips. All of these are coming to Raleigh in a tortilla thanks to Velvet Taco. The Dallas-based fusion taco restaurant will open in North Hills’ Park District in the former World of Beer later this year.
Velvet Taco also makes for a prime late-night spot in North Hills — the taco shop’s two Charlotte eateries are open as late as 2 a.m. on the weekends and serves libations like ranch water and the Kick Ass margarita. Hot tip: Don’t leave without a slice of red velvet cake.
Velvet Taco joins a burgeoning taco scene in Raleigh — in addition to national brands like Torchy’s and Taco Bamba coming to the 919, homegrown taco spots like Campo Taco Co. and La Taqueria by Katsuji Tanabe in RTP are also on the rise.
