This week is National Volunteer Week, and we’re in the giving-back spirit. Whether you’re an animal lover, an artsy type, a natural mentor, or a healthcare enthusiast — there’s a nearby volunteer opportunity for you. Here are 40 ways to get involved in the City of Oaks.

Raleigh Parks | Give your time by helping with landscaping, coaching sports leagues, and managing community gardens.

Roots with Purpose | Help assemble Compassion Packs full of hygiene supplies for the local unsheltered community.

Poe Center | This group provides essential health education programs and has taught 1.7 million students across 95 counties — volunteer to help in the office, in the garden, or prepare educational materials.

LGBT Center of Raleigh | Participate in outreach for Raleigh’s LGBTQ+ community or volunteer at special events, like Out! Raleigh Pride on June 20-21.

Ask an expert: Which tox is right for me?

Heard of Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin — but not sure what sets them apart?

We connected with the aesthetic experts at Synergy Face + Body to break down the differences between these top wrinkle relaxers to help readers find the best fit for their skin goals.

Botox

As the original neuromodulator, Botox has been in use the longest and is considered the industry standard — tried, true, and widely trusted. It works best when treating small, targeted areas.

Dysport

Dysport’s unique formulation allows for a broader coverage area with fewer injection points, making it ideal for larger treatment areas, such as the forehead. It also tends to show results faster — sometimes in just two to three days.

Xeomin

Xeomin is a “purer” blend, entirely free from accessory proteins. This makes it a great option for patients with sensitivities or who have developed a resistance to Botox or Dysport.

Still not sure which is right for you? Synergy’s team can help you find your custom match with a consultation.

Happy Monday, Raleigh. I recently became the proud owner of a vintage film camera, and while I’m still getting my bearings, I’d love to know of any of your favorite photo spots in Raleigh. I can’t promise they’ll all be completely in focus, but I’ll be sure to share some of my first shots here in the newsletter.
