Harris Lake Peninsula Trail | Explore the Shearon Harris Reservoir, the cooling water source for Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant. With just 157 feet of elevation, this is an easy but lengthy trek.
Sycamore Trail | This trail features the iconic Chainsaw Log made into an impressive piece of natural art from a fallen red oak. This is one of the Triangle’s most popular trails, so expect a crowd on nice days. Plus, a fall visit to this trail ensures stunning natural colors.
Sal’s Branch Trail | Hike this loop if you’re looking for a pleasant stroll filled with pines and hardwoods. This is a popular area for running, hiking, and fishing.
Lake Lynn Trail | This trail is mostly paved with some boardwalks and has little elevation change. Look out for aquatic life like ducks, geese, herons, and turtles.

George Bell, the US’s tallest man died in Durham last week at 67. Bell stood 7-foot-6 and was a Harlem Globetrotter, Wake County deputy, and actor. He was recognized for his presence both on and off the court. (The News & Observer)

Oscar and Grammy-winning Indian composer A. R. Rahman is coming to the Lenovo Center on Aug. 2, and tickets go on sale this Friday, March 28. Expect an immersive multimedia experience centered around Rahman’s iconic music from over 150 films.

Raleigh’s Fire Station 7 is set for a makeover, starting Monday, March 31 and lasting approx. four months. The Oakwood + Mordecai fire station will receive a $813,000 refresh, and firefighters will be temporarily relocated to Fire Station 11 on Glenridge Road.

🏀 The Triangle keeps dancing

Duke
Men’s:No. 1 seed Duke trounced No. 16 seed Mount St. Mary’s on Friday, 93-49 at the Lenovo Center, and moved on to crush No. 9 seed Baylor 89-66. The Blue Devils are dancing on to the Sweet 16 and will play again on Thursday, March 27 or Friday, March 28.
NC State
Women’s: The No. 2 seed Wolfpack overcame No. 15 seed Vermont 75-55 and will play the No. 7 seed Michigan State Spartans today at 12 p.m. at Reynolds.
UNC
Women’s: In Chapel Hill, the No. 3 seed Tar Heels beat No. 14 seed Oregon State 70-49 and will face No. 6 seed West Virginia tonight at 7 p.m. If they win, the Heels will face Duke.

This weekend’s errands included a stop at Falls River Cafe up in North Raleigh, which, in addition to great breakfast standards, serves up some outstanding Dominican food. Our favorite bites were the Dominican burger, the tostones, and the moro de habichuela.
