Twelve downtown businesses received a total of $112,500 in Upfit Grant funds through Raleigh Civic Ventures and the Duke Energy Foundation. Grant amounts ranged from $2,500 to $15,000, supporting many minority-, women-, LGBTQ+-, and veteran-owned businesses. Businesses awarded include Bistro 401, Copperline Plant Co., and Sir Walter Coffee + Kitchen.
Development
Raleigh’s Area Land Trust received a $300,000 donation from St. Michael’s Episcopal Church to build 18 affordable cottages in Wake County’s historic Idlewild neighborhood. The $8 million project will offer homes for families earning below 60% of the area median income. Construction is set to begin in 2025, with completion expected in 2026. (WUNC)
