‘Tis the season of fun and cheer in Oak City. Raleigh is alive with holiday spirit this season, offering a variety of signature events that are a must for both locals and visitors.

We’ve curated a complete list of festive experiences to send you on your merry way in Raleigh + throughout the Triangle.

Signature seasonal events

The holiday festivities kick off with the annual Raleigh Tree Lighting at the Martin Marietta Center tomorrow, Nov. 22, where families can view the lighting of downtown’s festive tree, snap photos with Santa, and shop at the holiday vendor market.

The following day, Saturday, Nov. 23, brings the 80th Annual Raleigh Christmas Parade, a beloved tradition that fills the streets with floats, marching bands, and plenty of holiday cheer. Pro tip: Make sure to grab a warm bev to keep you cozy during the parade.

Flight Deck NC, a new beer garden near RDU, opens its doors this Saturday, Nov. 23. The family-operated spot combines the owners’ passion for aviation and craft beer with 16 taps of NC craft beer with a spacious patio and unique games like cornhole for passengers to enjoy. Twelve downtown businesses received a total of $112,500 in Upfit Grant funds through Raleigh Civic Ventures and the Duke Energy Foundation. Grant amounts ranged from $2,500 to $15,000, supporting many minority-, women-, LGBTQ+-, and veteran-owned businesses. Businesses awarded include Bistro 401, Copperline Plant Co., and Sir Walter Coffee + Kitchen.

Development

Raleigh’s Area Land Trust received a $300,000 donation from St. Michael’s Episcopal Church to build 18 affordable cottages in Wake County’s historic Idlewild neighborhood. The $8 million project will offer homes for families earning below 60% of the area median income. Construction is set to begin in 2025, with completion expected in 2026. (WUNC)
