The 2024 holiday season is officially among us, and Oak City isn’t short on festive experiences. Grab your calendar and check out these experiences filled with tons of holiday cheer.

Raleigh is alive with holiday spirit this season, and we’ve curated a complete list of festive experiences to send you on your merry way in Raleigh + throughout the Triangle.

Signature seasonal events

The holiday festivities kick off with the annual Raleigh Tree Lighting in Moore Square on Friday, Nov. 21, where families can view the lighting of downtown’s festive tree, snap photos with Santa, and shop at the holiday vendor market.

The following day, Saturday, Nov. 22, brings the 81th annual Raleigh Christmas Parade, the largest holiday parade between Atlanta and DC with with floats, marching bands, and plenty of holiday cheer. Pro tip: Make sure to grab a warm bev to keep cozy. Plus, keep the Saturday fun going at North Hills for their tree lighting.

No winter season in Raleigh would be complete without ice skating at THE RINK at Red Hat Amphitheater, open from Saturday, Nov. 22 through Jan. 4. Upgrade your skate by renting a private igloo with a hot chocolate bar.

If you’re in the mood for something closer to the equator, check out Wye Hill’s Sippin’ Santa pop-up. We love the tropical vibes, festive drinks, and holiday decor that makes Christmas feel a little less chilly.

Friday, Jan. 5 is the last day to visit the Illuminate Art Walk in downtown.

The Illuminate Art Walk is coming back for its fifth year on Friday, Dec. 5, offering a free self-guided walking tour of downtown filled with vibrant LED lights and colorful displays. We think you’ll love this year’s signature exhibit, the Trumpet Flowers in City Plaza.

The Raleigh Little Theatre is also celebrating its 41th year of “Cinderella.” Plus, you won’t want to miss the iconic “A Christmas Carol” put on by Theatre in the Park.

On Dec. 11, the famed Trans-Siberian Orchestra is coming to Raleigh with their epic Ghosts of Christmas Eve show at the Lenovo Center. You won’t want to miss this.

If you’re up for a quick trip, take the kiddos on Santa’s Reindeer Roundup Express in New Hill, ~30 minutes from Raleigh, for a festive train ride with Santa.
