The City of Raleigh is set to launch Business Bloom, a new program aimed at empowering refugee and immigrant entrepreneurs. Partnering with Five One Labs and funded by the Truist Foundation, the initiative will offer six weeks of training, mentoring, and support to help these businesses thrive.
With 13.5% of Wake County’s population being foreign-born and a significant portion of local businesses led by immigrants, this program will help address a community need.
According to Alice Bosley of Five One Labs, the initiative was created to spark innovation and create jobs. Truist Foundation’s Chris Bell also emphasized the program’s potential to drive economic growth and additional development in the community.

Willow House Coffee, previously a mobile coffee shop, has revealed its plans for a new brick-and-mortar shop. The new space will offer a place for community gatherings with events and activities to build connections.
Ranked
Forbes’ latest ranking highlighted the Triangle as a top hub for NC employers. Out of 100 companies employing North Carolinians in the state, 12 are headquartered in the Raleigh-Durham area, including Blue Cross Blue Shield and Duke University. (The News & Observer)

The 8th Annual Wiener Dog Races are back. Wiener Dachshunds are eligible to enter + registration is open to the first 50 participants, with a $25 fee due Friday, Sept. 20. Watch the doggies race at Oktoberfest in Lafayette Village, on Saturday, Sept. 28.

Wake County Public Libraries released new library card designs for National Library Card Sign-up Month. Readers can swap old cards and enter the “Share Your Library Card Story” contest for a chance to win prizes. New cards are available at all 23 library locations.
