Walk, don’t run. We’ve put together a list of upcoming races — here’s what you need to know before hitting the starting line.

Sizzling Soles Half-marathon | July 13 | Cary | Run alongside others in this low-key race.

Relevate 5K | July 20 | Cary | Run to further research for ovarian cancer.

Night Nation Run | Aug. 24 | Cary | Run, walk, and dance at NC’s only running music festival — this 5K for Stand Up To Cancer will feature neon lights + live DJs.

North Hills 5K | Sept. 7 | Raleigh | Support the Backpack Buddies organization and raise funds to provide weekend meals to children in food-insecure homes.

Sola Hot Mini 5K | Sept. 14 | Raleigh | Be a part of the 11th annual Sola race and support the search for the cure to ALS.

Gail Parkins Memorial 5K | Sept. 21 | Durham | Walk or run for advancing ovarian cancer research at Duke University’s Medical Center.

RDC Marathon | Oct. 27 | Durham | Pick your own distance — marathon, half-marathon, 10K, or 5K — and have fun among other passionate runners. This race is a Boston Marathon qualifier and runs all through Durham.

City of Oaks Marathon | Nov. 3 | Raleigh | Move at your own pace, select your own distance, and run at home during Raleigh’s most iconic marathon.

Weather
  • The heat advisory will continue into today, with a heat index ranging 101-109. Relief in the form of rain is expected later this week, closer to Friday and Saturday. (ABC 11)
Closing
  • Beyu Caffé has announced its Boxyard RTP location will close Tuesday, July 16. This is the second location the cafe has closed this summer after its flagship restaurant in Durham closed its doors in mid-June. (ABC 11)

  • Raleigh’s newest golf venue Golf Golf Golf will open in early September at 605 New Bern Ave. and will offer an indoor putting green, golf simulator bays, tabletop and arcade games, a bar serving drinks, and an outdoor patio. Cost per round will start at $75.

  • Mark your calendars. The second annual Tomato Daze will be held at the Cary Farmers Market on Saturday, July 27, 8 a.m.-12 p.m. The event will feature samples of various tomatoes, a chef’s corner to explore tomato-based products, and activities for the kids.

  • OG Prime, a Gatsby-inspired restaurant, is on its way to the Triangle in September 2025 by the owners of Apex’s Osteria. The steakhouse will offer a fine dining ambiance and sommelier-selected wines. The space will also feature a private event space and a 30-person private cigar lounge. (Triangle Business Journal)

Filming for the Amazon show “The Summer I Turned Pretty” has taken over UNC’s campus and parts of downtown Chapel Hill. The show’s production + sightings of the cast are causing lots of local excitement.

Locals and students have caught glimpses of some scenes for the upcoming third season from East Franklin Street and nearby coffee shops.

Filming on UNC’s campus will last through today. Cameron Avenue will be closed for production 9 a.m.-11 p.m between Columbia + Raleigh streets.
