Meet your Friday plans: North Carolina FC plays Sunderland AFC — two-time FA Cup champions and the subject of the Netflix docuseries “Sunderland ‘Til I Die” — this Friday, July 21, 7 p.m. at WakeMed Soccer Park.
Starring US Men’s National Team defender Lynden Gooch, Sunderland plays in England’s SkyBet EFL Championship and will be the third English side to visit in recent years, after NCFC shared the spoils with West Ham United in 2016 before holding Swansea City to a draw in 2017.
RDU is launching a nonstop flight to Fort Myers through Breeze Airways. The seasonal service will begin Nov. 17 with flights available on Mondays and Fridays. (Triangle Business Journal)

The Downtown Raleigh Alliance and Raleigh Parks and Recreation are teaming up to bring Jazz in the Square back to Moore Square this fall with a new artist lineup. Starting in August on select Thursdays, this free concert series will feature live jazz performances and on-site food, beer, and wine vendors.

The 10th annual Sola Hot Mini 5K race is Saturday, Sept. 16 at Sola Coffee in North Raleigh. Thus far, the race has raised over $450,000 in the fight to end ALS with a goal to raise $200,000 more this year. Lace up those shoes and register to race.

According to a study by The Lown Institute Hospitals Index, the most “socially responsible” hospital in the country is right here in the Triangle. Durham’s Duke Regional Hospital ranked No. 1 out of the 3,600 hospitals evaluated — this is the third time in a row the hospital has made the list. (The News & Observer)
