New businesses coming to Raleigh

Downtown Raleigh businesses had more than $240 million in sales last year with over 40 new companies, restaurants, and bars joining the community. Take a look at who has recently announced a move to Raleigh.

Current Wellness will be opening in southeast Raleigh later this spring as a wellness center for both physical and mental health. The space will offer fitness instruction, yoga classes, food education, mental health counseling + coworking offices for wellness practitioners. Their mission is to activate inclusive wellness for the mind, body, and community.

The Little Pup Lounge has already opened their doors in Raleigh at 510 West Person Street. The lounge is open to small dogs up to 25 pounds and is a kennel free facility. You can choose between daycare and overnight boarding + weekly and monthly packages.

Saxapahaw General Store will be making its way into Transfer Co. Food Hall as the third and final phase of the food hall’s development plan. Transfer Co., located at 500 East Davie Street, will use 16,000 square feet for the general store + a cafe.

Good Day Good Night restaurant

Opening this spring at 607 W. Morgan St., Good Day Good Night will be a neighborhood restaurant with a plant-forward menu, offering to-go breakfast, lunch + dinner daily, plus brunch on the weekends. The restaurant is located inside the new Origin Hotel, and operates according to the slogan: “A good day starts here. A good night ends with us.”

Hunky Dory, a craft beer and record shop in Durham, is opening a new location in downtown Raleigh at Seaboard Station. The shop is set to open this spring in the former BREW coffee bar. Learn more about what the business will offer at this new location here. 🍺

Flying Mayan is bringing together southwestern and southeastern flavors downtown Raleigh this year. The Carolina Burrito, featured on the Travel Channel, combines Southwest chili sauces with slow cooked pork from eastern Carolina. The restaurant will be located at 319 Fayetteville Street.

Lady Luck is bringing Miami vibes right to Glenwood South. When the small plates kitchen closes for the evening, guests are encouraged to stick around, try one of their colorful cocktails + enjoy music from the DJ who will play out of a converted pink Ford truck. The tapas bar will take over the former Blue Mango location at 222 Glenwood Avenue and is slated to open in March. Check out more pictures of the space here.

Mister Pompadour, a local e-commerce creator of hair styling products, will be taking their products to the shelves by opening a flagship barber lounge in May. Located at 1053 E. Whitaker Mill Road, Suite 105, the lounge will offer haircuts, smooth shaves + top shelf cocktails for a well-groomed experience.

○ A new plant-based gastropub called Element will be added to the downtown Raleigh food scene later this year. Their mission is to share plant-based meals that can be just as delicious to vegans as it can be to omnivores. The location for this restaurant has not been disclosed. TryThis: Vegan Poutine, made with hand cut fries, house-made cheese curds and brown gravy.

○ Raleigh’s first cat café is expected to open next month at 201 Prospect Avenue near downtown Raleigh. Owners Sarah Newton — a former dancer with the Carolina Ballet — and Arthur Hailey have been working to get Purr Cup up and running since early 2019, with plans to offer coffee + snacks alongside adoptable cats from their local partner SAFE Haven. Killjoy, set to open March 17, will bring a personalized twist to cocktails in the downtown area. Guests will have the opportunity to speak with a bartender about their likes and dislikes in their drinks or fill out an order pad that will help the bartender craft your perfect drink. Not into spirits? The bar will have non-alcoholic options that will be just as customized + unique to you. The bar is planned for 116 North West Street, across from Clouds Brewing.

Question
