The 12th annual Hopscotch Music Festival will return to downtown Raleigh on Thurs., Sept. 8-Sat., Sept. 10. Over three days, more than 40 acts including headliners Courtney Barnett, Perfume Genius, Kim Gordon + Charley Crockett will perform.
From local musicians to free shows, we have the rundown on what you need to know about Hopscotch 2022.
🌳 NC musicians
Of the 28 artists performing on the festival’s main stages in Moore Square and City Plaza, four are based in NC.
- MJ Lenderman is an alt-country songwriter from Asheville. Pitchfork ranked his breakthrough solo album, “Boat Songs,” high enough to earn the music publication’s “Best New Music” accreditation.
- Folk-country musician Al Riggs is based in Durham. Their latest album, “Themselves,” explores death, rebirth, and transformation. Read Pitchfork’s album review .
- Rock singer and songwriter Reese McHenry moved to Durham in 2000. This will be the powerful vocalist’s first performance after the onset of COVID-19.
- HNDCLW is a band based in Kill Devil Hills and boasts an alternative + experimental sound.
