Gipson Play Plaza — a new 18.5-acre public space for all ages — broke ground in Dix Park in summer 2022, with plans to open two years later. The project is a part of Dix Park’s Master Plan to further develop the 308-acre park.

On Thurs., May 19, Truist announced that it will donate $2 million to Dix Park. The money will help fund the Play Plaza’s picnic grove, which will be an area with grills and picnic tables, and provide free community programs and spaces within the park. The bank will be recognized as one of 21 founding partners.

🌳 Inside the Play Plaza

This public space will include a play area with a swing terrace, sensory maze, water play mountain + an adventure playground.

There will also be attractions like works of art, fountains, and gardens. The historic House of Many Porches will be repurposed to house a café featuring sweet treats and healthy foods.
