Back for its second year, #FilmFest919 starts tonight and the lineup promises another international array of acclaimed indie and foreign films + Academy Award contenders. And we can’t wait. 🙌

Founded in 2018 by three Hollywood pros — journalist Claudia Puig, producer Randi Emerman, and publicist Carol Marshall — FF919 aims to become a major player in the awards season festival circuit, bringing in some of the hottest films from Cannes, Sundance, and Toronto, to name a few, and pinning the Triangle on the map for Southern fests.

📍The fest is held at Silverspot Cinema at 201 S Estes Dr #100, Chapel Hill through Sunday.
💰Tickets are avaliable for each showing for $19.89

Some of this year’s highlights include:
🎥Marriage Story, starring Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson, Laura Dern, Ray Liotta + Alan Alda. This divorce dramedy warmly reflects on the bewilderment and loss experienced by one couple as they navigate their failing marriage.

🎥Jojo Rabbit, starring Roman Griffin Davis, Rebel Wilson, Sam Rockwell + Scarlett Johansson. Directed by Taika Waititi (who previously directed Boy, Hunt for the Wilderpeople, and Thor: Ragnarok), this satirical film won the people’s choice award at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival + tells the story of a lonely German boy growing up during WWII who discovers his mother has hidden a young Jewish girl in their attic.

🎥Parasite, starring Kwak Sin-ae, Moon Yang-kwon + Jang Young-hwan. This Korean film won the Palme d’Or at Cannes International Film Festival and tells the story of two families — one aspirationally wealthy and the other rich only in street smarts — who are fatefully brought together into a fragile, symbiotic relationship.

Tickets and passes can be found on the FF919 website. During the weekend, more than 35 films are scheduled to be shown at Chapel Hill’s Silverspot Cinema in University Place. You can find the full lineup and trailers for all of the movies here. ⭐
