Plans for East End Market — an ~11-acre mixed-use development north of Downtown — are moving along, with construction already underway. Plans call for the redevelopment of industrial warehouse space (previously used for storage and transfer) into a premier food and beverage destination in the East End neighborhood.
The $250 million project , located near Wake Forest Road and East Whitaker Mill Road (near Loading Dock 1053), calls for restaurant + retail space, office space, and apartments. Nearby planned redevelopments include Raleigh Iron Works , 1249 Wicker, and Bowstring Bar.
The first phase
The first phase of East End Market began construction this spring + is slated for completion by the end of this year. It will feature 70,000 sqft of restaurant and retail space, including a new French restaurant entitled East End Bistrot from Triangle restaurateur Giorgios Bakatsias, and a coworking space called Common Desk. We’re most excited about Raleigh’s first cidery — Shady Grove Co. — opening in phase one.
The second phase
Developers SLI Capital and Regent Partners recently acquired the additional land needed for the second phase of East End Market
. The 15 parcels of land were purchased for ~$18 million. The second phase will feature up to 465 apartment units, 235,000 sqft of office space + 40,000 sqft of retail. Construction will begin without any pre-leasing and is expected to be completed in late 2023.
