Western NC has faced a challenging journey to recovery since Hurricane Helene hit in late September, and communities across NC have banded together to support those affected. Tourism is a prominent part of WNC’s economy, and many areas have had to close to tourists during a busy season.

While many towns remain in recovery mode and are temporarily closed to guests, nearly a month later, multiple communities are beginning to welcome visitors back.
