So in the great debate over when it’s acceptable to start listening to holiday jams + put up your lights, Thanksgiving seems to be the benchmark everyone can agree on. And with Turkey Day landing so late on the calendar this year, you might be itching to deck the halls, even if you are a strict not-until-after-Thanksgiving-er. At our house (Erin here), we always put the tree up before supper on Thanksgiving Day. If you’re wondering where to get a fresh tree this week or next, here are three local farms close to the city.

Back Archers Christmas Tree Farm

Monday 12-5:30 p.m., Tuesday-Thursday 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Friday-Sunday 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
🌲Family-owned since 1978. Trees from 6-12 feet. This year there will be limited cut-your-own options, but they always have a great selection of fresh-cut Fraser firs + garland, wreaths, and fresh mistletoe. ProTip: $5 discount with military ID. Bonus: They’re open regular hours on Thanksgiving Day.

Boyce Farms

📍2813 Mount Vernon Church Road, Raleigh | 15 minutes from North Raleigh + 22 minutes from downtown Durham

🌲Family-owned since 1982. This year there will be limited cut-your-own options + pre-cut, N.C.-grown Fraser fir trees and fresh wreaths. ProTip: They also offer flocking, if you want that snow-dusted look.
