Take Warning — hockey is back and the Canes are ready to storm the NHL.
Carolina is ranked No. 3 in the power rankings for the upcoming season, and ESPN has them as the No. 1 most promising team over the next three seasons. But back to the present. The Canes beat the Florida Panthers 4-3 during Saturday’s home preseason matchup.
Last season, the Hurricanes were eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs by the New York Rangers after losing 6-2 in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference semifinals. As the Canes look to compete in their 25th Anniversary Season, they will debut black as their primary home jersey color + a new, vintage-inspired uniform .
In addition to new threads, the team retooled in the offseason, bringing in two all-star players in defenseman Brent Burns and forward Max Pacioretty . Unfortunately, Carolina lost center Vincent Trocheck to the Rangers.
Opening night of the Canes’ 2022-23 NHL season is on Wed., Oct. 12, where they will take on the Columbus Blue Jackets on home ice at 7 p.m. Buy tickets .
We can’t wait to hear the loudest fans in hockey back in action + see how far the Canes go this season — with high hopes of another shot at the cup.
