Long-standing Berkeley Cafe announced that it found a new location at 428 S. Dawson St., an ear-shot from its current spot.

Last September, Raleigh’s oldest music venue shared its uncertain future on Facebook as its 217 W. Martin St. building is being rezoned. Berkeley has severed as a safe space for hipsters, entertainers, and foodies alike since 1980.

This iconic Raleigh hole-in-the-wall will close its downtown location in October and reopen on South Dawson early 2024.

The parcel was purchased by hotel development and management company Raymond Management Company in 2018 for $1.77 million and is part of an up to 40-story rezone project.
