Western Carolina University is ready to welcome the class of 2026 to The Whee. Let’s get into all the school has to offer.

Campus life:

WCU’s nearly 12,000-member student body makes up more than 170 student organizations including Greek life + intramural sports teams. Students have several opportunities to participate in WCU’s Days of Service program to get involved locally. Students are also encouraged to explore outside through the Intercultural Affairs organization and study abroad opportunities to places like Asia, Australia + South America.

New and improved infrastructure:

WCU is excited to upgrade campus life through many ongoing campus-wide construction projects such as new residence halls + most notably, the state of the art $110.5 million sciences and laboratories building to support their growing STEM student population. The Apodaca Sciences Building (which officially opened in Aug. 2021) is 185,000 sq-ft of lab and classroom space built to replace the old structure originally from the 1970s.

NC Promise Tuition Plan:

WCU consistently ranks among the top 10 public universities in the South + best value universities in the South. The ranking for best value is a reflection of NC Promise, which reduces the cost of undergraduate tuition to $500 per semester for North Carolina residents and $2,500 per semester for out-of-state students. For those incoming students in 2022, WCU is also waiving application fees for both undergraduate and graduate programs.

Explore WCU’s website for resources like a list of their 120+ undergraduate and 40+ graduate programs (including a nationally recognized teacher education program, a criminal justice program used as a model across the state, and a nationally ranked nursing program), how to schedule a tour + more admissions information for next year’s enrollment. Let’s go, future Catamounts.
