City Editor Danyale here. When I relocated to NC, the first thing I noticed was the hilly terrain. Growing up in Virginia where snow and homemade sledding adventures were plentiful, these memories are arguably one of the best parts of my childhood.

After nearly three years without snow in Oak City, we want everyone to get the most fun while it lasts. Pro tip: Break down sturdy cardboard boxes for a homemade sled. Here are three Raleigh parks to go sledding.

Dorothea Dix Park

Visit this family-centered park and take on the escapade of Harvey Hill.

Fletcher Park

This spot offers a spacious multipurpose open field offering limitless opportunity for playing and sledding.

Roanoke Park

Located in the Five Points historic neighborhood, this location is popular due to mild hills for sledding.

When you’re done, sweeten the day by visiting your nearest local coffee shop for a warm bev.
