Today, the NC Zoo has reopened for visitors to enjoy many of the animals in person, rather than virtually. The NC Zoo’s virtual programs were a great resource for students and individuals trying to learn during quarantine, and now we can take that knowledge and apply it in person.

Some things have changed with the NC Zoo’s procedures as they reopen, however. Here are some answers to questions you might have before you go.

How do I get a ticket?

Walk-up entry is not available at this time. Visitors must arrange their visit with the purchase of timed tickets in advance.

Reservations and timed-entry ticketing will be accepted three weeks in advance.

The Zoo’s pathways are configured into a one-way walking experience, where possible, through North America and Africa.

How much will these tickets cost?

General admission tickets for adults $15 (13-61), seniors $13 (62+), and children $11 (2-12).

Children under the age of two are free but must also have a ticket or reservation for entry.

Refunds, rain checks, or exchanges on timed-entry tickets are not available during this time.

What exhibits will remain closed during this initial reopening?

Indoor habitats: Seabirds, Polar Bear Underwater Viewing and Ice Cave, Aviary, Streamside + Desert

Indoor dining

Seasonal attractions: Giraffe Deck, Carousel, Butterfly Garden, VR Experience, Zoofari, Air Hike Ropes Course + Treehouse Trek

Education Smart Carts, Kidzone + playgrounds

Keeper Talks and Public Feeding Times

What health and safety procedures is the NC Zoo adding with their initial opening?
