Following an intense hit earlier this month against Wake Forest and another in September, NC State quarterback Grayson McCall has medically retired from football and ended his season with the Pack.

Ahead of Week 9, the Pack is sitting at 4-4 with a 1-3 ACC record — the one win coming against new conference member Cal. While fans anticipated the tough match at Clemson, home losses against Wake Forest and Syracuse put the Pack in a tricky spot. Now-QB1 CJ Bailey — who’s been put in the hot seat as a freshman — will face Stanford + Duke at home before a bye week ahead of Georgia Tech and UNC at their respective home turfs.

A 10-win season may no longer be in the cards, but Bailey has the potential to revitalize the team’s offense to possibly take down its Tobacco Road rivals — Duke has a 6-1 record, and Carolina is 3-4.
