Missed Hopscotch last weekend? The 10th annual festival in downtown Raleigh brought dozens of bands to town including Sleather-Kinney, James Blake, Jenny Lewis, CHVRCHES + many more. While Hopscotch is a highlight of September, we rounded up 3 shows/fests to add to your calendar this month.

Lizzo

Sept. 13 | Red Hat Amphitheatre | $292

The “Cuz I Love You” tour comes to Raleigh in the middle of it’s July to October run. Many cities are sold out, but there are still tickets for the Raleigh show. If you haven’t been on social all summer, meet Lizzo – singer, songwriter, rapper, flutist and actress – whose Truth Hurts music video has ~95 million views on YouTube.

Pro-tip: Lizzo’s NPR Tiny Desk Concert is pure gold.

Snarky Puppy

Sept. 14 | North Carolina Museum Of Art | $32 GA, $45 Reserved

Two reasons we’re excited about this show: It’s outdoor on the museum grounds. (Garden goals.) And, it’s not often you see a show with 25 world-class musicians on one stage for the price of a single show.

The collective was created by a group of jazz students in college at the University of North Texas 16 years ago. Now, they come together to perform and represent members from Japan, Argentina, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Puerto Rico.

Pro-tip: This is almost the last show in the 2019 Summer Concert Series. So if you’ve been meaning to get to one of the museum’s shows, this might be it.

Wide Open Bluegrass Festival

Sept. 24-28 | Downtown Raleigh in various locations + Red Hat Amphitheatre | Single day $25-30, weekend passes $50-60

The International Bluegrass Music Association brings the World of Bluegrass festival (presented by Chiesi USA) to town for a weekend of impressive bluegrass at the end of September.

This is an actual conference for professional bluegrass musicians downtown there will be 30+ showcases all weekend long – luckily, we get to enjoy the music here in our city. They will be putting on headliners nightly at Red Hat.

Pro-tip: You can get a single day conference ticket for $25, which gets you into all the fun, including headline shows.

Headliners at Red Hat include:
