Downtown Raleigh’s first distillery is now open — but it isn’t just a spot for locally-made drinks. RALtoday got a first look at Young Hearts Distilling, the new venture from the Trophy Brewing Co. team.

The new spot is offering craft cocktails with their own vodka + gin, as well as beer, wine, and an impressive dinner menu. Come for the Young Hearts Vodka, but stay for the hanger steak.

The building was previously home to Busy Bee Cafe and Trophy Tap and Table. The building has been transformed into Young Hearts Distilling with a new bar, new booth seating, and new look. Visitors can also dine on the updated rooftop patio, featuring renovations like a canopy + ceiling fans.

  • What we tried: We ordered the Joyce Farms Chicken, a roasted chicken roulade featuring cornbread croutons + a glaze made with Trophy Brewing Co.’s popular Trophy Wife beer — thanks to a recommendation made by our waiter (hey, Tyler 👋). His other recommendations included the Local Pork Torchon and Beet Bourguignon (for the non-meat eaters).
  • What we’re still thinking about: The presentation of the drinks was worth the trip alone — our Lucid Dreamer cocktail was a bright blue color and was topped with a dried flower. The Pink Colada was equally as stunning — a pretty pink drink served in a hurricane glass + topped with coconut cream.
  • What’s not to miss: The view from the rooftop patio — the perfect spot to look out on the capital city. 😍

ProTip: The bottled spirits are only available for sale in person + there is a limit of 2 bottles per person.

Young Hearts Distilling will be open Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday 4-10 p.m. + Friday-Saturday 4 p.m.-12 a.m. Reservations are highly encouraged.
