They’re just a few of the many self-defense strategies featured in the “Staying Alive” animal exhibition open now through August 23 at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences.

With larger-than-life sculptures, interactive experiences, and live encounters, you’ll learn about animals from around the world and the wild strategies they use to survive — including a critter that can voluntarily shed its limbs to escape.

This family-friendly event is perfect for summer break, and is available in English and Spanish.

Announced

The James Beard Foundation announced its nominees for the James Beard Awards, and the Triangle is nowhere to be seen. Guess they don’t know just how great Raleigh’s restaurant scene is.

Speed a little. Lose a lot. That’s the name of the NC Governor’s Highway Safety Program’s new campaign targeting speeding drivers through this Sunday, April 5. This week, expect an increased number of patrols and checkpoints. (Raleigh Downtown)
