The start of Ramadan depends on the sighting of the crescent moon, which may take place today. One of Raleigh’s best new restaurants is offering a three-course Iftar meal through the end of Ramadan, March 19. Peregrine chef + co-owner Saif Rahman’s take on the traditional Muslim meal eaten after sundown during Ramadan will feature Peregrine’s signature “first-generation American food.”

Expect dishes like field pea fritters and smoked tomato jam, milk-braised lamb shank, black eyed pea Fattoush salad, and warm baklava with green cardamom ice cream to finish.

“For the last 15 years, I haven’t been able to break my fast with my family because I’m always working,” Rahman said. “This is a special moment. Now in my own restaurant and kitchen, I can share the experience with my guests; we can break the fast together every night.”
